Trinity and Plymouth

Well it wasn't so much Clash of the Titans...more like Mike Tyson meets Peter McNeely (am I showing my age)?
Plymouth got off the bus, but a bus ride home and their second loss in a row was all they took with them from Manchester. So, now all the Plymouth bashers are out in full force. Everyone is talking about how it's the end of the world, blah, blah, blah.

Look folks the players in Plymouth, hit just like the kids on other teams do. They get hurt just like the kids in other programs do...and (while it doesn't happen all that often), they can also hit a skid like other teams do. Don't count them out just yet.

So, the other side to the coin is all the Trinity bashing going on on other boards. All your hearing now, in any post about Trinity is that good Lord, now Trinity shouldn't be playing in D IV, they should be in D III, they petitioned but were denied, and now they're dismantling D IV. Not fair, not fair! Cry foul!

People relax. Yes, they beat MV handily in week 1. So have other teams (including Plymouth).
The game against Hanover, was not domination.
They almost lost to Laconia.
Yes, they hammered Plymouth.

So what. In 4 games in and they are 4-0. They have an impressive line, a few All State players....just like other teams in D IV. Their Offense has been very impressive in their 1st 4 games, as has their defense. They are 1st in the league in Points Scored and 1st in the league in Points allowed. And yet, they've still been scared twice this season.

Let's keep this in context...it is high school football. All it takes is a couple mistakes and the underdog is on top and wins the game. Besides the season is only half-way over...they could hit a losing streak just like Plymouth. Let's just wait and see what happens the last 5 weeks.

  1. It's funny how I read on other boards how Trinity is the greatest thing, Trinity has came into a D-IV with its two best teams REBUILDING. Trinity should of came down when both Laconia and Plymouth had college talent no one would be talking about this. Seriously, they almost lost to an okay Laconia team. And this Plymouth team, they are having a down year, Ill be surprised if they even make the playoffs, people need to stop praising Trinity for beating Plymouth, they are beating up on weak teams this year...congratulations.

  2. Agreed. I imagine when all is said and done, if you end up looking at the overall scores for Trinity's wins, they won't look all that different from the banner Plymouth and Laconia years.

  3. Let's not forget. The season is only half over. They haven't won anything. An injury here or there can spell doom for any D IV team since depth comes at a premium for these teams. In fact most D IV teams play their starters both ways at virtually every position. Let's not give the trophy to Trinity just yet.

  4. Trinity is not all that deep (like most other D IV teams). Having said that, I've seen them and they are huge. I doubt there's a bigger front five in D IV. So, if they stay healthy they will be a tough out.

Haven't seen Lebanon yet, but I think they still have to play Kennett also.
