Well, Week 7 pretty much went off as expected. Plymouth, Laconia, Lebanon, Trinity and Monadnock were all winners this week. This gave us some concrete answers and left us with quite a few questions.
Trinity rolled over Kennett with somewhat surprising ease and secured a spot in the playoffs. More to the point though is the way they did it. A 44-6 convincing win like this, on the road is sending a statement to the rest of the Division. Believe the hype, we are for real, and we're playing our brand of football now. Send whoever you want and we will run right through them. While it's difficult to imagine their next opponent Kingswood giving them much of a game, this must truly be a message intended for their sole remaining question mark...their opponents in the north, the (also) undefeated Lebanon Raiders. What can you do to stop us?
Kennett must put the puzzle back together. The Eagles were squarely in the driver seat a mere 2 weeks ago with only a single loss, now fight for their playoff lives. After suffering a huge loss to underdog Monadnock a week ago and following it up with a lopsided defeat to the visiting Pioneers, the Eagles need to circle the wagons and get it together...quickly. They travel to (3rd place) Laconia this weekend for a must win game against the now healthy and confident Sachems.
With Ronnie Steele back in the lineup and the team clicking on all cylinders, it's go time for the 5-2 Sachems, and they will look to be a tough out for any team they play either home or away. However, their road to the playoffs will not be easy as they face Kennett and then Monadnock to close out the season. Both teams are still very much in the playoff hunt and you can be sure that both of these games will be dogfights.
The Huskies got a big win over Hanover this weekend and I'm sure (at least to some degree) must be looking past next weeks game at MV, to the following week when they come to Laconia to close out their regular season...in what could be a "win and your in" game against the visiting Sachems at home.
Then there's Lebanon. The Raiders simply know how to win. Their first 3 games were all tight games that they pulled out with stellar defense. A convincing win on the road against Laconia set the tone for their last 3 games which in a word, have been laughers. They've shut out their last 3 opponents with games that have been over in most cases, by halftime. While they've locked in a playoff spot and I'm sure this has been great for the playing time of their JV players, the question is will their starters be ready to play 4 quarters of football in their remaining 2 contests. First up for them is the defending champion Bobcats as they come with their playoff hopes literally on the line. One loss and they will be out of the playoffs. They follow that up with what could be a preview of the D IV Championship game against the powerhouse that is Trinity. Should be very exciting!!
I can't wait...
Can't wait this weeks game with Leb and Plymouth is going to be an exciting game. Hope there is a good turnout of fans at the game to support these kids. They are doing such an amazing job this year. We are so PROUD of them. Keep it up boys you can do it!!!!
ReplyDeleteHehe 8:03...are you kidding, Lebanon is all of the following:
ReplyDelete1. Being 7-0,
2. Making the playoffs for the first time in however long,
3. Playing the defending champs,
4. Looking at an 8-0 showdown with 8-0 Trinity,
5. Playing for home field game in the playoffs
If that doesn't bring the fans out, there are bigger issues in Lebanon :) Good luck!
You word it well when talking about Trinity and Lebanon. What can they do?
ReplyDeleteIF they can get past Plymouth, there is simply no way their line can match up against us on either side of the ball. Sometimes you are simply over matched. Sorry Lebanon, but in every contest there is a loser.
At least you guys will have had a good season. Maybe next year.
Anyone know if both Kennett and Laconia are fully healthy? Any injuries for them this week..
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple big games this week. Laconia/Kennett and Plymouth/Lebanon. Fun Fun
....And the Patriots couldn't beat the Rams in '01 and the Giants didn't even belong in the same stadium with the '07 Patriots. There is a reason they play the games. All of the games. I guess Trinity will have to show up and play Lebanon because the Lebanon boys believe they can win against anyone.
ReplyDeletetrinity is not invincible i think they are better than leb but not by much
ReplyDelete6:56 Trinity almost lost to a down year Laconia team don't act big and bad. You are in a BAD division IV this year calm down. Also, I hope someone can show the Lebanon team your post and use it as motivation.
ReplyDelete6:03 It's the truth. I am telling it like it is, Lebanon is going to need more than motivation to beat us. Let them read it.
ReplyDeleteSeriously where were you guys when Plymouth and Laconia were peaked with talent? oh yeah in division V. Nice. Now you're playing with rebuilding Plymouth and Laconia teams, and you almost lost? Lebanon was a non-factor in division IV for almost 8 years?(nothing against Lebanon but anyone who watched D-IV over the years knows its a very weak division this year) and you're trying to talk down to them. They have never had a year like this and that being said even if they lose to Trinity or beat them and make the ship' they have made tremendous strides turning their program.
ReplyDelete10pm i'm not really concerned about the strides they've made. Great for them. I said in my first post it would be great that they had a great season.
ReplyDeletethey are just going to simply be overmatched against us (Trinity).
heck they still have to beat Plymouth first.
also why are you assuming it's a down year in D IV just because Laconia and Plymouth aren't at the top?
ReplyDeleteIsn't it possible that other teams are catching up talent wise?
no, back when Plymouth and Laconia were on top they were sending 3-4 kids to D-1 schools for football. Thats why..
ReplyDeletePlymouth, Laconia being DOWN, still have almost beat the top teams this year, thats why its a down year in the division.
ReplyDeletejust wait Trinity you're underestimating Lebanon you may be bigger but the bigger they are the harder they fall.
ReplyDeleteplymouth and laconia did not send 3-4 kids d1 a year ever buddy. and if anything d iv is up, its way better than d iii atleast
ReplyDeleteguys it comes down to this. lebanon can have ray lewis at linebacker...it won't matter because the pioneer line is going to absolutely overpower their line just like we've done all year long. 3 yards, 5 yards, 6 yards, tick tick tick, touchdown. all night long. wait and see.
ReplyDeletetrinity's line isnt that good. Their def good but they are def beatable. And for the record id take 65 from Leb over anyone from trinity... ive played both
ReplyDelete5:15 its more like tick tick tick, turnover. Leb's defense is filthy and youre underestimating them
ReplyDeleteJudging by the comments on this post, I think next week we'll have to have a Trinity/Lebanon Post, for the fans and players to help hype the game up :)
ReplyDeleteJust don't forget guys, you both still have games to play this weekend :) Good Luck to both Schools!
4:00, Laconia sent 2 to D1 and Plymouth sent 3, in the passed 2 years know your stuff guy.
ReplyDeletechristian birt from laconia... who else?
ReplyDeletebirt, peter evans, cord barnes, nick barnes, tim farina
ReplyDeletefirst off personally i think leb is actually stronger than trinity on the line and i agree with whoever said they would take 65 before anyone on trinity. Also i played plymouth last year and this year and they had the same caliber players as far as i could tell so that settles that.
