D IV Championship game -

Well, with all the talking done and the preliminaries out of the way, we get to see what everyone has been talking about since around Week 7. Trinity and Lebanon in (as it's so affectionately called) the SHIP. Trinity was able to defeat a tough Laconia team over the weekend while Lebanon locked down "the Bus" and defeated Monadnock at home. Congrats to both Laconia and Monadnock on great seasons this year.

On to the championship game...round 2. While Lebanon came out on top in the first match up and convincingly defeated the Huskies over the weekend. This is NOT a done deal. Make no mistake, the precision with which they run their Double Wing causes problems for defenses. It doesn't matter how much film you watch, when it's run correctly it can be one of the toughest Offenses to stop. And what's more, they've got to deal with Josh Hughes running the ball. Hughes has a established himself this year as a workhorse. When he gets a head of steam he will run you over. Most of their stuff is coming off-tackle or up the middle in your grill. Defensively, they will miss Ryan Carrier, and I know it's been said many times on this site and others, we wish you a quick and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing you next year. Word has it they've shifted 6'7 Lauderdale to LB, which should give them a different look defensively. The Raiders come into the game mostly healthy as well. Patch and Barker both had big games against Monadnock and will look to have a repeat performance this Saturday. Senior Jon Roth also had a big game both on offense and Defense picking off a pass and getting in on numerous tackles.

In the end though, I expect that this game is going to be an all out slugfest just like before. Trinity will be gunning for payback that much is a certaintly, the question will come down (as it did in their last meeting) to who can control the line of scrimmage. While Trinity is bigger, Lebanon did a nice job opening holes in their first matchup and pursuing the play defensively. They'll need to do that again to finish perfect. I can't wait! More on this match up as we get closer. Thoughts...

  1. i guess my last post was moderated. look i cant be the only one sic of hearing about lebanon. finish perfect whatever. people forget or didnt see the way we moved the ball on them in the first game. yah patch is slippery but he wont repeat what he did this time. hes not chris johnson.

hughes is coming large both sides of the ball 51, 65, 33, 69, 39, noone put a good hit on him from lebanon just lucky gang tackles. they couldnt stop him before and this time we will score points. lastly ask anyone at that game our line owned lebanon last time 2-3 yards off the ball every time, gonna be worse this time

  2. If Trinity's line owned Lebanon then why was it that Lebanon came out on top in their last meeting? Trinity D couldn't handle Patch the first time, they won't be able to handle him the second time around either. He's TOO good.

People didn't forget how you moved the ball against Leb. They were just focused on how much better Leb moved the ball against YOU. Just face it, this is Leb's year.

  3. I don't want to take anything away from Lebanon. They are a good team and Patch is a good player. Please remember that the game won by Lebanon in the second half after they did a helmet to helmet hit on a defensive player. Trinity had a tough time after that due to not knowing Ryan's status. I have to say that game was not a runaway for Lebanon so don't talk like it was.

The game should be great this weekend. We will see then which team is ready to play.

I guarantee you patch gets less than 50 yards saturday.

  6. Thought I might repost this for the people who might have missed it.

Good to see the expected teams make it to the finals. What a season both teams have had and best of luck to the quietest team. No need to talk on here.... your play next week will decide it all.

  8. Is trinity really going to blame thier game on a helmet to helmet hit??? its football people get hurt, I hope he makes a great recovery, but if you put that much stock into one player and you lose that guy thats when you find out how good your team is. Moving the ball is only productive if it gets put in the end zone. good teams seal the deal, others make excueses. I hope there is a running clock in the 3rd quater LEB WINS BIG. Maybe after this year they will move trinity back down where they belong, they dont seem like they like challeges.

  9. look in the 1st game lebanon was able to run off tackle in the 2nd half through huge holes. i guarantee that will not happen this time. the holes simply won't be there and as long as we lock down the edges they will have to run inside, where they will be punished. period. they won't have the heart to go 4 quarters with us this time around

  10. I can't wait to see the boys from Leb walk off that field victorious on Saturday. This season has been such a huge turnaround, they most defintely deserve it and with the way they've been playing the entire year it should be a great cap to an amazing year. I'll be there cheering them on to victory
